Alvaro Pedro Duscher (born March 22, 1979 in Esquel, Argentina), more commonly known as Aldo Duscher, is an Argentine football (soccer) player with an Austrian passport, who currently plays defensive midfielder for the Spanish team of Racing de Santander. He is renowned for his physical presence on the pitch, infamously breaking David Beckham's metatarsal in a UEFA Champions League and was, for some time, touted as a possible replacement for Roy Keane, former 'hard man' of Old Trafford.
Duscher debuted professionally in 1996 with Newell's Old Boys. In 1998 he moved to Europe to play with Sporting Clube de Portugal, where he won the SuperLiga in 2000. He was then signed by Deportivo de La Coruña, for a price of 13 million Euros.
His contract with La Coruña expired in 2007. Due to this, both Arsenal and Manchester United were battling it out for the player's signature. Greek side AEK Athens then joined the race to sign Duscher, along with Villarreal CF.[1] He would eventually sign on July 2007 for Racing Santander.
For the Argentine national team, Duscher has been capped four matches.
