From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alderwasley Hall School is a school for children with speech and language difficulties in the Peak District, close to Wirksworth. The school is set on two main sites, the main school site is at Alderwasley Hall, a former stately home built in the Georgian era. The sixth form and sports facilities are at Callow Park, which is a former country club on the other side of Wirksworth. The school is primarily a boarding school, but does take a number of day pupils from Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Leicestershire and the surroundings.
The original hall was built by the Hurt family and remained in the family until 1930. The school has extensive grounds, which include a series of ponds, which are home to ducks and geese. The parish church of All Saints lies close to the entrance of the school grounds.
It is currently owned by the SENAD group based in Mickleover near Derby
