Alder Community High School is a state funded high school in Gee Cross, Greater Manchester which has specialist status in Mathematics and Computing. The School was built under the Private Funding Initiative (PFI), a major government investment programme designed to bring Britain's secondary schools into the 21st Century. Alder was formerly Hattersley High School, but this received a name change and was demolished to make way for the new school in Gee Cross.
It has around 800 pupils.

The school teaches a broad range of subjects ranging from the conventional to the more modern such as Citizenship.

The school is an Oracle Academy and as such runs the Oracle iPro course; a frestanding qualification which is equivalent to an A-Level and highly respected in the computing industry.

The Student Council at Alder is one that is respected and listened to by the management. This can be seen through the council's annual budget of £2000.
How it Works
Each form group will elect two representatives that form a Year Council. Then two representatives from this Year Council will sit on the school-wide Student Council.
