Alden Penner is a Canadian musical artist who founded The Unicorns with Nicholas Thorburn. Following the breakup of The Unicorns, Alden created the film score for the movie The Hamster Cage (2005), and he simultaneously played with a number of Montreal based bands, as well as pursuing solo acts.
Penner released a 7" on the Melbourne-based Art School Dropout label. The A-side, The Ghost of Creaky Crater, was recorded in Melbourne on December 19, 2004 while The Unicorns were touring the country. The release was limited to a hundred copies.
Penner ran Canadian based record label Take This Hammer. However, he has now put the label to rest.
In 2007, Alden founded the band Clues along with Brendan Reed (formally of Arcade Fire and Les Angles Morts and Bethany Or (of Shanghai Triad) They currently have an album on the way.
Penner is now involved with another project called Virgins in Cargo.
