Alcochete Airport is the currently planned site for construction of a new Lisbon Airport, scheduled to replace or complement the current Portela Airport in the year 2017.

As of February 2008, the location was subject to public consultation. After years of debating whether Alcochete or Ota would be the place to build the new Lisbon airport, Alcochete won as it was more accessible due to the good infrastructure nearby, for example the Vasco da Gama Bridge.

The location of Alcochete as the construction site of the future Lisbon Airport was confirmed by the Portuguese Government on 8 May 2008[1]
