Alcithoe calva is a large deepwater sea snail, a marine prosobranch gastropod mollusc in the family Volutidae, the volutes.

This species is endemic to the South Island of New Zealand at depths of between 70 and 110 m.
[edit] Shell description
The shell of this species is similar to that of Alcithoe swainsoni but with a tall narrow spire, a long narrow aperture, and no columellar callus plate.
The shell coloration is yellowish-brown with very faint brownish zigzag markings.
The shell height is up to 177 mm, and the width is up to 64 mm.
