Alcithoe is a genus of large sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs in the family Volutidae, the volutes.
The species in this genus mostly have large, solid, fusiform shells, characterized, with a few exceptions, by having 4 or 5 strong plaits on the columella.
Alcithoe species are found in most seas, from shallow water to considerable depths, and are active predators, feeding primarily on bivalves. Intertidal species are found burrowing or half buried in sand or mud.
