Alcione Nazaré

Alcione Nazaré (November 21, 1947 - ) is one of the greatest female sambists in Brazil.

She was born in São Luís, Maranhão, daughter of a military police maestro. At the age of thirteen, she began singing in college parties. In 1972 she recorded her first single and in 1975 her first LP, A Voz do Samba.

Known as "Marrom" (brownie), she interpreted several hits like Não deixe o samba morrer, Lá vem você, Gostoso veneno and Ilha da maré.

On July 7, 2007 she performed at the Brazilian leg of Live Earth in Rio de Janeiro.
