Alchemy is a computer puzzle game from PopCap Games. This title can be played for free online at various websites, or a full version can be downloaded and unlocked for a nominal fee.
[edit] Gameplay
The object of the game is to turn a board of squares from grey to gold by placing randomly selected runes on every square. Each of these runes must be placed directly adjacent another on the board that shares either its colour or shape (or both). Completing an entire row either horizontally or vertically makes the runes disappear and leaves the square gold. If there is no available square for the rune currently in hand, it can be discarded into the forge on the side of the board. Runes can be discarded up to three times in a row before doing so causes the game to end.
The strategy of the game revolves around choosing exactly where to place runes in order to maximize future move possibilities. If poor rune placements are made, future moves become more difficult (or require more luck in subsequent draws).
[edit] Trivia
The symbols used in this game consists of astrological glyphs (zodiac symbols): Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. A few of these glyphs will only appear in higher levels.
There are two music tracks used in Alchemy:
- The load music for Alchemy, played at the Welcome screen and load screen (visible only on Trial Version) is named War in the Middle Earth
- The in-game music is named He Has No Face
Both are created with Scream Tracker 3, and are the work of the module musician, Peter "Skaven" Hajba.
