Talk:Alburgh (town), Vermont
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
See http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?Date=20060419&Category=NEWS&ArtNo=60419002&SectionCat=&Template=printart for documentation that Alburgh did in fact change its name in April of 2006.
Is this really an exclave? I was browsing Google Earth, and it sure looks like US Highway 2 runs literally right down main street. I don't think this is in the same class of isolation as Point Roberts, WA or the Northwest Angle in Lake of the Woods, MI. Perhaps the verbiage on this page could clarify that (and the matching verbiage on the other two pages). I thought I'd ask here first as I've never been to Vermont... - I'm not sure what the precise definition of an exclave is, but I've been to Alburgh numerous times and I can assure you that it is possible to drive there without crossing through Canada. Admittedly, you have to cross over a bridge from either Rouses Point, NY to the west or West Swanton, VT to the east (or travel down through the Hero Islands to the south via a series of bridges before crossing back to the mainland).
