Talk:Albert Bel Fay
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
```I wrote the article on Mr. Fay in May and June. I used the Handbook of Texas and other sources and cited that in the references. I did not copy the handbook material verbatim but broke the material up throughout that article. I found other sources too, including the GHWB statement when Mr. Fay died. Also Who's Who. And I covered the campaign of 1972 from other sources, including election stats which were not in the Handbook of Texas. What do you suggest be done? ````Billy Hathorn 9:40 20 December 2006 (UTC)````
- As I understand it, using someone else's words is the copyright issue, not whether they were split up or not. If I were, for example, to take five consecutive paragraphs from the latest John Grisham novel and use them in my own novel, it would be a copyright violation, even if I rearranged the paragraphs or scattered the sentences throughout the novel. — Bellhalla 14:07, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
I did a little editing on the article and gave attribution in the text to the Handbook of Texas three or four times. When I edited, the copyright violation tag came off. Billy Hathorn 22:57, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Billy Hathorn 16:55, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Fay article redone
I redid the Fay article this past week and included some new material. I don't think it violates a copyright now and is actually improved.
