[edit] Subcategories

I think that we probably could use some more subcategories, as those four leave a lot of albums uncovered. Thebogusman 01:58, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

Well, Category:Rock-album stubs is virtually unused. But maybe it's unclear as to what exactly goes in there, since there are so many sub-variations of that? In either case, yeah, albums are currently the most overfilled category of any stub, and suggestions should probably be discussed or suggested at the Stub Sorting project asap. --Interiot 02:11, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
Thanks, I just found that project page. I definitely think it would be helpful to have subcategories for country, rap, classical, R&B and other genres, but it seems some people have already recommended it. Anyway, I'll try to wade through some of these when I have free time. Thebogusman 02:20, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Suggested subcategories

Some categories that don't have yet, but seem to be somewhat common include:

  • {{metal-album-stub}}
  • {{folk-album-stub}}
  • {{punk-rock-album-stub}}
  • Less well-defined genres, probably best to put in other stub categories, but could be created if need be:
    • {{indie-album-stub}}
    • {{pop-album-stub}}

--Interiot 17:25, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

Pop album stub is badly needed. The indie is not. Please consider my suggestions as I have been working on this category for about a week.(look below or on Category talk:rock album stubs.

I concur: pop album stub is needed. Mattbrundage 17:19, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

I'd also recommend:

  • {{industrial-album-stub}}

[edit] Tool-assisted sorting

Hopefully these get worked through pretty quickly, but I just wanted to note that there's about 1200 album-stubs noted here: http://tools.wikimedia.de/~interiot/reports/output/?C=S;O=D that should be very quick to sort, as a script identified them as more or less obviously fitting into one of the subcategories. I don't have a bot to perform the changes, but they really should be reviewed by a human anyway. --Interiot 20:04, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

Sorted the obvious ones. I'm picking a few more out of the rubble right now. Crystallina 05:41, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stub sorting

I have removed over 700 albums from this category because they fit in the subcategory rock albums. see here. Over the next week or so I will find more albums that belong in the album sub categorys. Working on:When complete i will change the wording inside the ()'s and add a new goal. I am doing this so that I don't walk over what someone else may be doing'

  • Punk albums(complete)Approx 40 found Eagle (talk) (desk) 02:05, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
  • Folk albums(complete)Approx 7-8 foundEagle (talk) (desk) 21:54, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
  • metal albums(incomplete) Eagle (talk) (desk) 21:26, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
After going through 750 of these and finding only one, this does not appear to be worth my effort. Let me know if you belive elsewise.Eagle (talk) (desk)
  • Country albums(incomplete)Eagle (talk) (desk) 01:38, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for putting up with me!!!Eagle (talk) (desk) 02:05, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Category article count

This is using Auto Wiki Browser to count the articles. As of:

  • 02:21, 1 February 2006 (UTC) There were 2165 articles in this category Eagle (talk) (desk)
  • 21:52, 1 February 2006 (UTC) There were 2126 articles in this category Eagle (talk) (desk)
I have found only one (out of 500) thus far, the problem seems to be that many of these stubs do not have the genre marked, these may need to be found and {music-importance} placed on them. These tend to be the stubs with only one line that states the album exists.Eagle (talk) (desk) 22:14, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
May comeup with something to find these later, heck I may do these very soon. Suggestions on my coarse of action, please go to my talk pageEagle (talk) (desk) 22:14, 1 February 2006 (UTC).
  • 21:28, 2 February 2006 (UTC) There were 2093 articles in this category Eagle (talk) (desk)

[edit] Theme Park albums

Not sure about this, but what about Theme Park albums? Generally, they get called "childrens" or "soundtrack" but that really isn't what they are.

[edit] Bot for tagging?

I recently discovered WikiProject Albums, and thought that since I'd often put album-stub on a page I came across in NewPages, that I'd go through Category:Album stubs and add Template:Album to the articles in this category. I got through all the As and wondered why I was bothering with this when a bot could do it much faster and easier. So, is there a bot for doing that? Does anyone think it's a good idea? Maybe one could be requested at WP:BOTREQ. ~ ONUnicorn (Talk / Contribs) 20:03, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Alternative rock albums

There's a category "Alternative rock album stubs", but it's not under "Album stubs". Should it be included in "Album stubs"? Thaurisil 14:06, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Question about DVDs

I've noticed that there are a few things tagged as "album stubs" that aren't really albums at all, but are articles about concert DVDs that don't seem to have a live album to go with them. Is this really the best category for these? I guess I can't think of anywhere else to put them, but I'm rather reluctant to add an "album" tag to something that isn't an truly an album. Maybe I'm just being picky. Ministry of Silly Walks 02:15, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
