Albrechtsburg
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Albrechtsburg is the castle that dominates the city centre of Meissen, Germany. This castle, the masterpiece of Arnold of Westphalia, was constructed in the 15th Century as a residence, not as a military fortress, the first German castle built for that purpose. The castle, while designed mostly in the late Gothic style, has elements from the Renaissance. Meissen porcelain, the first fine European china, was made in the castle from the 1700s to the mid-1800s.
