Albogue
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The albogue is a single-reed clarinet coming from Spain, especially from Madrid ('gaita serrana'), Asturias ('turullu'), Castile and Andalusia ('gaita gastoreña').
It is similar to a hornpipe, like the Welsh pibgorn and the Basque alboka.
Although the albogue is a woodwind instrument, its name is derived from the Arabic "al-bûq" (البوق) (literally "the trumpet" or "the horn").
