Albertsons Boise Open
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Albertsons Boise Open presented by First Health is a professional golf tournament on the Nationwide Tour, played annually in September at the Hillcrest Country Club in Boise, Idaho. In 2007, the 18th Boise Open was played September 20-23. Hillcrest, the only home of the tournament since its inception, was established in 1940 and sits at an elevation of 2800 feet (853 m) above sea level. [1]
Albertsons, a major supermarket retailer in the western U.S., has been the title sponsor since 2002. The grocery chain was founded by Joe Albertson in Boise in 1939 and the company was headquartered there until 2006, when it was acquired by Supervalu. Supervalu's headquarters are in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
The Boise Open has been played every year since 1990, the first year of the tour, then known as the Ben Hogan Tour, and is one of the few original tournaments remaining on the current schedule.
This stop in southwestern Idaho consistently offers one of the top purses on the Nationwide Tour. The 2007 purse was $675,000, with $121,500 going to the winner.
