Alberto Corrales, Cuba, was born in Guanabacoa, Havana, November 21, 1952. He is called the wonderful flute, as he were the flute itself. He is a virtuoso of the instrument.

Corrales admire flute players like James Galway, and he has become in one of the best flute players of Cuba.

  • 1981 Graduated in Music at Cuba Superior Institute of Art (ISA), under the Bulgarian professor Nikolai Koev tutoring.

  • 1969 Tree years at the Army Mayor Central band.
  • 1971 Play with the National band of Concerts with directors like Manuel Duchesne Morillas, Arturo Bonachea and Rodrigo Prats among others.
  • At the same time play at:

  • - 'Nuestro Tiempo' group with the director Manuel Duchesne Cuzán;

  • 1987 First mention best Russian music interpretation, National Festival of Camara Music, with op.94, Prokofiev, Havana.
  • 2000 Prize category in Traditional Music with the CD 'Mi Gran Pasion', CubaDisc Festival, Havana
  • 2000 Prize of specialized critic, Cuba Disco Festival, Havana.
  • 2005 Participated in the CD 'Mis versiones preferidas', nominated in Cuba Disco festival, Havana. A recording of music of the important musician and composer Harold Gramage. 'Movil tres' for flute and piano.
  • 2006 Third prize of composition at the Habaneras Concourse, with the song 'Los ojos de mi niña' performed by Panorama band, Havana.

2005 Finalist of composition, in the Chachacha concourse, 'Enrique Jorrin' with the song 'Arrimate a mi chacharrap', composed by Alberto Corrales and Javier Barrera Tejeda, Havana.

  • 1984 Since this year is soloist at the Concerts National Centre of Music.
  • He has shared the stage with musicians like Leo Brower, Chucho Valdez, Jorge Luis Prats, Frank Emilio, Candelario López (Cachao), Richard Egües, Miguel O'Farril, Emiliano Salvador, Hermanos Vitier and others.

  • Colibri recording seal from Cuban National Institute of Music will start the recording of the CD, 'Alturas de Simson' , an anthology of old songs in a Cuban rhythm called 'danzon'. The danzon was created by Miguel Failde, and the CD will gather songs composed by him around 1879. The CD 'Alturas de Simson' will have songs of different epochs of the danzon until our days. Among them would be one danzon composed by Alberto Corrales dedicated to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; where Alberto used tree motives of Mozart's Re Mayor for flute and orchestra.
  • EGREM recording seal will bring to the market a new edition of Alberto Corrales CD that have opus 94 sonata of Serguei Prokofiev, 'Variation themes' from the Spanish composer Jose Maria Franco, and 'Soliloquy' from another Spanish composer, Joaquin Homs.
