Alberta Highway 589 is a two-lane, paved secondary highway that runs east and west between Hwy 56 and the south end of Hwy 855. It is about 24 miles long. Around 13 miles east of the intersection of Hwy 589 and Hwy 56 and north about 1 mile on Hwy 835 lies the hamlet of Byemoor. Near the eastern extremity of the 589 and south 1 mile lies the hamlet of Endiang the only other settlement.
