Albert Weisbord

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Albert Weisbord (9 December 1900 in New York City, New York - April 1977) was an American labor organizer.

An early member of the American Communist Party, on 15 March 1931, Weisbord and his wife launched an independent Marxist group, the Communist League of Struggle, that existed until 1937. The group asserted agreement with the policies of the Trotskyist International Left Opposition, but the CLS never fully joined the Trotskyists. When World War II broke out, Weisbord supported the U.S. entry into the war, albeit in the interest of defeating imperialism.
