Albert Rovers F.C.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Albert Rovers F.C. is an Irish football club based in Cork. In 1976 it was elected to the League of Ireland, replacing another Cork team Cork Hibernians. During it’s one season, 1976-77, in the national league, they finished second from bottom. In subsequent years the club was relaunched as Cork Alberts and then as Cork United. Before joining the League of Ireland the club was a successful junior club and had previously won both the FAI Intermediate Cup and Munster Senior Cup. After Cork United were expelled from the League of Ireland in 1982, the Albert Rovers name was revived and club rejoined the junior leagues. They currently play in the Athletic Union League.
