Albert A. Stirpe, Jr. is a member of the New York State Assembly, for the 121st district first elected in 2006. He is a Democrat. Stirpe represents the northern and eastern suburbs of Syracuse, NY.

Al Stirpe is being opposed by David Knapp for State Assembly. The election will be held November 4, 2008.
[edit] Criticism Over Tax Cap
Al Stirpe has been criticized many times in recent months over comments that he has made regarding the proposed property tax cap. Stirpe was cited in the Syracuse newspaper The Post-Standard saying “The tax cap is very popular. Something like 76 percent of people polled said they wanted a cap. Unfortunately, I don’t think they know what they are asking for.”[1] Many constituents have raised their concern over Stirpe for not truly representing them at the Assembly.

A website recently was created by citizens looking to expose Stirpe’s voting record called The Stirpe Squeeze. The site discusses Stirpe’s record on Taxes, spending, outsourcing, and gay marriage.
