From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Albany Students' Association (ASA), incorporated in 1998, represents students at Massey University's Auckland Campus (formally the Albany Campus) in Auckland, New Zealand. The ASA organises student events, publicises student issues, administers student facilities, and assists affiliated student clubs and societies. It is the only student association in Auckland with full membership of the New Zealand Union of Students' Associations.[1]
Like other students' associations in New Zealand, the constitution of the ASA centers the organisation around student advocacy and the provision of welfare services. Today ASA has over 6,000 members.
The ASA operates Evolution Bar, and produces Satellite Magazine. It also has involvement with StudentCard discount card Student Job Search, New Zealand Union Of Students' Associations and University Sport New Zealand. The Albany Students' Association annually run on the Albany campus the first semester Orientation festival, the second semester Winterfest, Woman's fest, Political Awareness Day and Boys Will Be Boys.
[edit] Satellite Magazine
Satellite is the fortnightly magazine of the Albany Campus of Massey University. It was awarded second for best small publication in the 2006 ASPA awards. Satellite has had some controversy over the past few years in particular surrounding the views of columnist Cowboy Matt. The magazine's current print run is 1500 copies per issue.
