From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Albany Medical Center Prize in Medicine and Biomedical Research is the United States' highest value prize in medicine and biomedical research.
The prize was established in 2000 from a US$50 million gift from late-Morris Silverman's Marty and Dorothy Silverman Foundation. Among prizes for medicine, the Albany Medical Center Prize is second only to the $1.4 million Nobel Prize in Medicine.
In 2008, the $500,000 prize was shared by Joan Steitz and Elizabeth Blackburn.
