[edit] Re: Proposed revision on Mainland China
Thanks for letting me know about zuguo dalu... something new that I've learnt. :-D
I'd agree "economic" encompasses "trade", but I cannot agree "economic" or "political" would emcompass "statistical purposes". And as both dalu and neidi corresponds to "mainland", it would be better to avoid putting an equal sign between "mainland" and either dalu or neidi. — Instantnood 16:56, May 20, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Mozart Portrait
That portrait is much better now. I wanted to do the same thing, but I haven't exactly figured out how to insert pictures. Good job. --Berserk798 01:17, 31 May 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Re : MTR Disamb
Hi Alassius,
Oh, there's actually a history behind why there was the two line disamb. The MTR Corporation Limited link (which is directly related to the MTR metro system in comparison to those at the TLA) was added much earlier than the TLA disamb as the article originally back then included both subjects, and then was split into two. Take a look at page history and you'll get what I mean. I personally didn't thought it appeared ugly, but I'll take note of it and see what I can do in the future. Thanks for your message though!
- Best regards, Mailer Diablo 17:01, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Debate? What debate? =P Sure you can, please try and rephrase the disamb if you wish to do so, as leaving just "For other meanings of the TLA "MTR", see MTR (disambiguation)." sounds pretty weird to me. Have a nice day! :) - Cheers, Mailer Diablo 19:17, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)
[edit] MTR disambiguation
Yes I noticed you have added a link to the company in the first paragraph. But then I don't think having a link to the company in the notice would make the notice clumsy, and in fact I consider it necessary. The MTR Corporation Limited is also commonly referred to as MTR as a shorthand, in the press, and in its own annual report. The MTR Corporation is not only the operator of the MTR, it also engages in property development and management.. it owns several shopping centres, and it invests in railway projects overseas. Leaving the link in the notice would make it more convenient for readers looking for information of the corporation. Actually I read your comment at Mailer Diablo's talk page before I added the link back, but I guess having the link won't make the notice too clumsy. — Instantnood June 30, 2005 07:41 (UTC)
- This is a company bearing the same name as the metro, with the metro as part of its assets. IMHO that already justified special treatment. The connection between the metro and the company cannot be compared with that between the metro and mountaintop removal, or between the metro and misc.transport.road. — Instantnood June 30, 2005 08:29 (UTC)
[edit] Re: POV edits
I'd love to hear from you how the wordings can be improved. It would be awkward either to say the Taiwan Affairs Office deals with government departments or agencies of the Republic of China.. as the PRC and ROC never recognise each other. At the government level, both of them have semi-governmental organisations (semi here is purely descriptive), namely the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Strait (ARATS) and Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF), to contact each other. I supposed saying "authorities of Taiwan" (in quotation, meaning it's only the wordings of the PRC) is more appropriate and accurate than saying government of the ROC. Please let me know your opinion to further improve it. Thanks. — Instantnood July 3, 2005 07:15 (UTC)
