Alaska is a village in the province of Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe. It is located about 15 km west of Chinhoyi. According to the 1982 Population Census, the village had a population of 3,854. The village grew up around the old Alaska Mine which started mining copper in 1959. Although it is not in operation anymore other mines in the Makonde area still mine copper and the village is the centre for smelting and refining copper.
