Alan Nakanishi

Alan Nakanishi has represented California's 10th assembly district since December of 2002. He is a Republican.

Assemblyman Nakanishi earned his B.A. in Chemistry at Pacific Union College, and his M.D. from Loma Linda University. He completed his medical internship at USC Medical Center. He also has a Masters Degree in Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Assemblyman Nakanishi served two years as a Major in the U.S. Army, leading a surgical department at McDonald Army Hospital.

Since 1971, Assemblyma Nakanishi has practiced medicine in Stockton. He is the co-founder of Delta Eye Medical Group, a six-physician group with offices in Lodi, Stockton and Tracy.

Assemblyman Nakanishi was elected to the Lodi City Council in 1998. He served until he was first elected to the State Assembly in 2002. In 2001, Assemblyman Nakanishi served as his city's Mayor.

Since 2005, Nakanishi has served as Co-Chair of the Asian-Pacific Islander Joint Legislative Caucus. He is the first Republican to have ever served in that capacity. He is also a member of the Rural Caucus, and the Legislative Sporting Caucus.

Assemblyman Nakanishi and his wife Sue live in Lodi. They have three children and ten grandchildren.
