Al Zeitawi

Al Zeitawi (الزيتاوي) is an Arab tribe that migrated from Mecca to Morroco and moved on to Gaza and later on to Jerusalem to finally settle in the small village of Jammain around 500 years ago. It is believed that the Zeitawi tribe are a direct descendants of Muhammad. Al Zeitawi tribe consists of 8 smaller branches Al Zaghab, Al Hamad, Al Sharei, Al Khalil, Al Sheikh Saleh, Abdul Jaleel, Al Sheikh Ahmed, and Al Eisa. In total the Zeitawi Tribe form a population of around 2500.

The Shrine of Sheikh Abdul Haq Al Zeitawi (The Grand Father of Al Zeitawi Tribe) stand in the town centre as a holy place in Jammain as Sheikh Abdul Haq is treated as a waley (holy father).
