Al Kufrah
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Al Kufrah (Arabic: الكفرة ), also spelled Cufra is one of the municipalities of Libya. Its capital is Al Jawf.[1] There is a very large oil refinery near the capital.
Al Kufrah's location in Libya's southeast places it on the country's border with Egypt, Sudan (unlike any other Libyan municipality), and Chad. It borders the following regions of these countries:
- Al Wadi al Jadid Governorate, Egypt - east
- ash-Shamaliyah State, Sudan - southeast
- Shamal Darfor State, Sudan - far southeast
- Bourkou-Ennedi-Tibesti Region, Chad - south
Domestically, it borders the following municipalities:
- Murzuq - west
- Al Jufrah - northwest, southwest of Ajdabiya
- Ajdabiya - northwest, northeast of Al Jufrah
- Al Wahat - north
- Al Butnan - northeast
