Aljaray Gaston (born October 16, 1987), better known by his stage name Al Fatz, is an American rapper. He rose to fame in 2006 following the success of his single, "Came Down" which was also included on the tracklist of Madden 2007.
[edit] Biography
Gaston was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and was raised by his grandmother. In high school, he began rapping and performing at local talent shows; at one of the shows, the reception to one of his songs was so strong that Al, who at that point was going under the name Fat Al, decided to record it. Gaston worked with Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James to help record the basketball star's theme song,[citation needed] along with Paul Wall, and was later signed to Atlantic Records. However, he was unable to keep his moniker, Fat Al, due to copyright problems with Bill Cosby's character Fat Albert.[citation needed]
Gaston was featured on the Madden 2007 soundtrack, along with AFI, Audioslave, Lupe Fiasco, Rise Against, and others. A track rumored to be from an upcoming album is said to feature Layzie Bone of fellow Cleveland rap act Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, and is titled "Brim Low", which has already been leaked onto the internet.[citation needed] Gaston has his own hip-hop group Called "Royalty Camp" or "Royal Camp". Members include himself, Yung Tae, and RJ Da Fool.
