Al Athrun (also spelled Athrun, or Lathrun, or Latrun) is a small town in northern Libya about 40 kilometers east of Cyrene. Its name comes from Greek Erythron, or red, due to the color of the local soil. It hosts recently excavated Byzantine churchs adorned with white-blue marble from Proconnesus.
