Al-Karābilah

Al-Karābilah or Krabilah as it is sometimes called, is a town in Iraq, located at Syrian border in an area of high ground.
near theDuring the Gulf War, the area was hit by coalition bombers due to it being near nuclear facilities at Al Qaim.
In April 2004 Jason Dunham, while on patrol with his Marine unit in the town, threw himself on a grenade to prevent it from injuring his fellow Marines, resulting in his death. He was later awarded the Medal of Honor for his action.
In October 2005 the US Army conducted an air raid near the city, claiming to have struck a local Al Qaeda leader, but being accused of killing civilians. The next month the town was assaulted as a part of Operation Steel Curtain.
