Al-Aziz Uthman

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Al-Malik Al-Aziz Osman bin Salahadin Yusuf (b.1171 d.1200) was the second son of Saladin and the second Ayyubid Sultan of Egypt.

Before his death, Saladin had divided his dominions amongst his kin - Al-Afdal received Syria, Palestine and the Yemen, Az-Zahri received Northern Syria and Abu Bakr Mesopotamia. This soon led to conflict, during which Abu Bakr, a brother of Saladin, managed to acquire lands from Mesopotamia to Egypt and to overthrow Al-Malik, taking the throne name Al-Malik Al-Adil I (1200-1218)
