Al-Assifa

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

al-Assifa (transliterated as the Storm) was the mainstream armed wing of the Palestinian political party and militant group Fatah. It was established in 1964 in order to protect the political wing of Fatah from reprisals. Its first attempted raid occurred on March 31, 1964 but was hindered because the fighters were detained by Lebanese security forces. Its first member killed was Ahmad Musa who was shot by a Jordanian army patrol. Al-Assifa was jointly led by Yasser Arafat and Khalil al-Wazir.[1]
