[edit] Aktrez from Anarchy Online?
If so this is the second time I have randomly run into you on The Internet. Welcome to Wikipedia! Rob Banzai (talk) 22:30, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yep that's me! Are you affiliated with Wiki? I'm trying to create a Wiki page for my company but it keeps wanting to delete it. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Do you still play AO?
- Again -- if you want to find out what you're doing wrong, start with WP:Why was my article deleted? and WP:Your first article. If you have any questions about Wikipedia policy I will try to help you (but will be going offline soon). Accounting4Taste:talk 22:36, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, didn't mean to go over your head there Accounting4Taste. Hadn't read your other post when I posted this. This is a valid company that is cited many other places. Upon reading the terms it seems that because I own the company I can't post about it? Maybe I'm just not understanding. Not trying to self promote as much as just add GEN to the encyclopedia of web gems.

- Although it's possible to post about your own company it's frowned on as a conflict of interest. Citing strong third party references in the article can go a long way to balancing that out, as can any removal of promotional sounding statements. You can work on the article on a subpage of your user pages until you think it's ready to go. That way it won't get deleted out from under you while you work on it. Rob Banzai (talk) 22:42, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- This is what I would have said, only better-written. I will create a page for you at User:Aktrez/Sandbox that you can use to work on the article, and I'll retrieve the deleted material for you and put it there. We all want to help you and get a good article for Wikipedia out of the process, but it just has to fall within our guidelines. Accounting4Taste:talk 22:46, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- The sandbox page is created (click on the link in the previous paragraph) and I've put the deleted material there. BTW, we try not to bite n00bs here -- that's another policy -- so please let me or anyone else know if you need help with anything. I'm going to add a standard welcome message to the top of this page that contains a collection of the kind of basic stuff that you will need. Accounting4Taste:talk 22:49, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

- Ok, I'll try to work on it there. I'm a Wiki n00b when it comes to this so, I didn't mean to offend. Just trying to get our site up here. :)

- On the subject of AO I don't play often but have been part of RUR for a few years now. A creative and entertaining bunch of people. Rock on, Aktrez, and leave a message on my Talk page if you need any other assistance. Rob Banzai (talk) 22:50, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

- - Yeah I got sucked into WoW for a while but now I just haven't had time to play anything with the site launch and work. Not to mention Video Games Live on top of it. I'll be getting back in soon though... I'm sure. Same crew still in AO?::
- The population is pretty thin now and I expect it will continue, at least until they update their graphics engine. Most of the old hangouts are empty so groups that were oriented around them perished. Rob Banzai (talk) 23:26, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Sad to think of the Rompa Bar and Baboons empty. Those were some fun days! But, yes. I agree they need to update their engines. I went back in about 6 months ago and just couldn't handle the graphics enough to stay. The platform for the game was SO much fun though and I loved the macro abilities. I miss those days.::

- Thanks for the help guys. I appreciate the support.
Hello mods, just wondering why sites such as The Superficial can have Wiki pages? We would like to make our Wiki page work, and I am trying to spot the differences in other website's that have published Wiki's. The Superficial covers celebrity gossip, but the site it self is set up as a blogroll, similar to GEN. I don't really understand the difference between their Wiki page, and the proposed one for The Girls Entertainment Network. --Mandiford (talk) 23:01, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- If you check out the page for The Superficial you'll see that it currently has a 'notability' tag on it because the claim for notability is a bit weak. But the editors of that article have added a couple of references to it to try and establish notability through third parties. If mention of your site has appeared in a media outlet somewhere track it down and add it to the refs section at the bottom of the article. Rob Banzai (talk) 23:04, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Excellent, thanks for the info. I think this is exactly the specific info we needed!--Mandiford (talk) 23:49, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Linking to Myspace
I wanted to be able to link to my brother and sisters myspace pages on the site that was put up by fans. It was deleted when I tried to put up the links. It's the only place on the web that I could find to link to any kind of "about" so that people know more about my family. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. --Aktrez (talk) 17:34, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to Becky Young has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. — iridescent 20:51, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
