The Girls Entertainment Network(GEN) - created in January, 2008 - is a community created by an all-female staff where both males and females alike will find a fun and exciting home to discuss topics related to Anime, Cosplay, Video Games, Gadgets, Comics and all things modern pop culture.

With 13 GEN editors covering multiple topics, the site is updated daily with fresh content that includes fun editorials, videos, reviews, researched articles and entertainment blogs. In addition to the information on the website, the forums welcome the community to interact and provide a constant dialogue.

[edit] History

The founder of GEN, Becky "Aktrez" Young first came up with an idea to create a community aimed at females after working on Watch Us Game in 2005. In 2006 Young joined the Global Gaming League who brought her on to help manage and run the Girl Gaming Network - a website idea created by Young, herself.

After 1.5 years and little progress made on the site, Young left GGL to go out on her own.

In January, 2008, Young and her team of female writers created the Girls Entertainment Network and began populating it with content immediately. In only two months, the site had grown to 300+ members.

Young approached a small company - Spark Studios - who believed in her vision for GEN and welcomed her to come on board and run GEN.
