A Soviet Union AKM RIFLE (bottom) is compared to a United States M-16A1 RIFLE. The AKM bullet has 123 grains of gun powder in it and has a velocity of 2400 feet-per-second. The bullet for the M-16A1 is 25 percent smaller and its velocity is 35 percent faster.
