- Akira Machida (町田 顯) (born October 16, 1939) is the current Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Japan.
- On October 15, 2006, Akira Machida will be forced to retire upon reaching the age of 60.
If he was born in 1939, he turned 60 in 1999. He'll be 67. The retirement statement is also an entry under future events on the 2006 page.
Sorry, I made two typographical errors when I wrote this article. He was born in 1936 according to the sources I used, and the mandatory retirement age in Japan is 70. I added another link to another news article, because old ones are now registration only. Adniel 00:22, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
