[edit] Economy
Akividu is known for agricultural rice paddies, and also for being one of the major exporters of rice in India. There are approximately fifty-four rice mills. Once the local aquaculture businesses were formed, almost all of the rice-paddies were converted in to fish farms and started breeding fish for export. The Kolleru, the second-largest sweet-water lake in India, can be reached through Akividu. Aquaculture has spread in the last two decades, which has led to increased pollution in and around the village. The village also has serious problems with its water filtration system.
