[edit] Biography
Akiane Kramarik was born in Mount Morris, Illinois to a Lithuanian mother and an American father. According to her website, she is homeschooled.
Primarily a self-taught painter, Akiane Kramarik started drawing at age four, painting at six, and writing poetry at seven.[2] Her first completed self-portrait sold for ten thousand US dollars.[3]
According to Kramarik, her art is inspired by her visions of heaven, and her personal connection with the Christian God. Kramarik's art depicts wildlife, landscape, and people.
At the age of 10, she appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show[4] and on CNN at the age of 12.[5]
[edit] Controversy
Some art experts do not believe Kramarik is the sole creator of the artwork published under her name, though they believe she may be completing the artwork to some degree.[1] When reporters asked the family if they could record a video of her painting a small image from start to finish, they declined saying that it wouldn't be a fair representation of her work.[1]
