Akbarpur (Hindi: अकबरपुर, Urdu: اکبر پور) is a city and a municipal board in Ambedkar Nagar district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is the administrative headquarters of Ambedkar Nagar District.Akbarpur is also the birth place of Ram Manohar Lohia (1910-1967) who was a renowned Indian freedom fighter and a socialist political leader.

As of 2001 India census,[2] Akbarpur had a population of 33,889. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Akbarpur has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 57% of the males and 43% of females literate. 16% of the population is under 6 years of age. Village Baunre, native village of Vinod Tiwari and indra kumar verma, is situated in this district,yogendra bahadur singh(grandson of late thakur sant bax singh)live here in saidpur village(on malipur road).
