[edit] Australia

Are we sure that straight-pull bolt-action variants are illegal? I mean, the Heckler & Koch R8 is a straight-pull bolt-action version of the G36 assault rifle (made specifically for the Australian market), so why would the AK be treated any differently? CeeWhy2 (talk) 01:04, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] We are missing something very important

How 'bout the legal status of the AK47 in China, Viet Nam, Russia, the former Soviet Union, etc.67.161.166.20 (talk) 00:54, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

You can fire them on government-owned shooting ranges, so that would not count. If you have a lot of money, your bodyguards can probably carry them. As far as your average citizen, I don't think so (unless it's maybe one of the Saiga AK-based hunting weapons). It's certainly worth researching and documenting, but then again the scope of this article is narrow if it only applies to AK-pattern firearms. Twalls (talk) 16:21, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
