The Ajuran (also Ajuuraan or Ujuuraan) is a Somali clan. The Ajuran live throughout the Horn of Africa, and may be found in Somalia, eastern Ethiopia, and northwest Kenya. The Ajuran are best known in Somali history for establishing the Gareen dynasty based in Qalaafo (now part of Ethiopia). The Gareen dynasty ruled parts of East Africa from the 16th to the 20th century.

Some Ajuran members settled in Mogadishu (also known as Hamar). They usually call themselves Moorshe, and are descendants of the Abdalla Dayle lineage.

The Ajuuraan together with the Hintire are the descendants of Jambeele, one of the six sons of Hawiye. when they were fought by the other somali trbes the ajuran people fleed in to kenya, ehiopia, burundi, Ruwanda and other african countries. the last ruling king of the gareen dynasty was the king olol dinle.he was killed by the ethiopians. it is believed that the current tutsi trbe in ruwanda are the ajuuran people who have fleed the war waged against them in somalia which was one of the most serious and long fought wars in the history of somalia.the ajuraan had to dilute into the somali tribes when they were targeted by the somalis. they later had to hide their identity and call themselves by the name of the other trbes . it is believed that there are ajuran tribes in the abgaal, marixaan and many more.the ajuraan used to rule with an iron fist and they used to tax the other somalis. it is believed the name ajuraan was drieved from the somali word "ajura" which means tax. therefore the ajuraan kings used to tax people and this practice was used to refer to them as a title and were later called the ajuraan.the ajuraan in ethiopia have entered into politics and some have even joined parliament. the same with the ajuraan in kenya who have been joining parliament since early 60s.
