Ajristan District

Ajristan (Persian: اجرستان) is a district in the west of Ghazni Province, Afghanistan. Its population, which is 97% Pashtun with a small number of Hazara, was estimated at 62,028 in 2001. The district capital is Sangar located in the center of the district. Most of the population lives in the valley of the Jikhai River.

The district contains an airport with two gravel surfaced runways. The airfield is located in a valley alongside the Ajristan stream on the southwest edge of the village of Ajristan.

Prior to 2000, the district was known as Daya, and was part of Uruzgan Province.
