According to the records in Montgomery Co. Circuit Court, shortly after Jim Folsom was sworn in as Governor on April 22, 1993, Paul Hubbert (later aided and abetted by Paul Haughton of the Republican State Executive Committee, and by others) entered into a conspiracy the calculated object of which was to smear Gov. Jim Folsom’s reputation for honesty and thus cause his defeat in the June 1994 Democratic Primary for Governor.” [1]
