Ajeetpura (Hindi:अजीतपुरा) is a town in the district of Hanumangarh, Rajasthan.

[edit] Name

The name Ajeetpura (Hindi:अजीतपुरा)was given to the town by Ajeet Singh Rathore, prior to this, it was known as Lahuwala. Ajeetpura was established in late 1604 AD by Ajeet Singh. Before 1604 AD it was a residential town of The Rangharas.

Ajeetpura has a good history earlier from Mughal era. It was under the control of Bikaner State of Rajputana. It was a Rajput Thikana under Rathore dynasty. The late Thakur Bhairav Singh Rathore of Ajeetpura was the cousin of Maharaja Ganga Singh Ji Rathore of Bikaner.

Shiv Mandir, Ajeetpura is the most valuable heritage site in the town. It is a "Samadhi Sthal" of Baba Jhulewale Maharaj. It is the only tourist spot in the town, well known for its visitors from Kamaliya, who are called Kamaliyans. Other temples in the town include the Baba Ramdev Temple, Hanuman Temple etc.

There are two historical ponds in Ajeetpura, called "Dhaab". These are situated at the center of the town. These are known as the prior famous destinations of villagers for discussing any social matter.

Both Hindus and Muslims live in the town secularly. They help each other in difficulties and social problems. Out of 2200 houses of the town about 450 houses belong to Muslims. Almost every caste is represented in the town.

Ajeetpura is situated is a semi-desert region in Rajasthan which is one of the most driest states of the country. There are a number of huge soil-hills here, called Tibba. About 56% area of total farming land is under desert. Trees are equlas to none here, comparing with the forests of southern Rajasthan.

Ajeetpura sees two seasons of the rain in a year, one in summer and one in winter. The summer rain is called Monsoony rain and the winter rainfall called Mavath in local language. But most of rain or say about 90% of rainfall of the year is happened in summer season. And takes place by both Arebian and Bay of Bangal Monsoon. It is about 38 cm rainfall every year.

Ajeetpura is a town of distt. Hanumangarh which touches the border of distt. Churu which is most hot and most cold region of not only Rajasthan but also of whole country.

Ajeetpura is tropically situated at 30N and 75E. These areas are about semi temretous. But the tempreture of Ajeetpura is not always equal.

Where temreture once touch at about 50 c., once it got down to about 00 c. This is because of the deserty situation, so the difference of temreture is so high whenever it is yearly, monthly, weekly or daily temreture report.

Only 40% population of the town is dependent on farming and agriculture. About 60% population is dependent on secondary, and other occupations. About 560 persons of the town are living in Gulf countries. Some of the employees are businessmen in the town and other are working out of Rajasthan, in other states like Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujrat, Punjab, Delhi etc. There is a small market in the town about 200 shops and one bank.

Ajeetpura's agriculture is often depend o rain but about 60% area of total farming area is about irrigated. Raslana Branch is the main canal of the area. It is a part of Rajiv Gandhi Sidhmukh - Nohar Nahar Pariyojana. Ajeetpura's farming area is divided into these following areas (local names) - Taal, Tibba, Mandpara, Jole, Pole, Dabala, Bharda etc.

In "Rabi" Chana is the most important product. Other cropes of "Rabi" are Mustard, Wheat, Jau etc. And in "Kharif" Bajra is the major product following by Guar, Juar, Moong, Moth etc. Cotton is the only Trading Crop of the area.

The literacy level in the town is so-so (not so good and not so bad). 60.09% people are educated of the town. Goverment. Sr. Sec. School, Ajeetpura is the main centre for education in the town, with Science and Arts faculties. There are about a dozen schools in the town including one English medium school.

Seth Sahadev Lal Bansal Govt. Hospital, Ajeetpura is the major health care centre in the town. It is the hub of about a dozen of sub-health centres of the adjoining area. Besides it there are about 5-6 private clinics in the town.
