Ajai Singh

Lt Gen (Retd) Ajai Singh PVSM A VSM is the governor of Assam state in India, since 2003. He is also the chairman of the North Eastern Council (NEC).

Born on November 20, 1935 in a farmer's family in Rajasthan he studied at Mayo College, Ajmer and Madras University.

After studies he joined the Indian Army and rose to become Lt General. He saw action in Indo Pak wars of 1965 and 1971.
