[edit] Use of the term "Airboard"

I believe "airboarding" also refers to a type of bodyboarding done in snow. In fact, this use seems to be more common than the hovercraft form featured in this article. Perhaps this should be addressed. — Poga — 20:01, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] it's a hovercraft

Airboard is not a skateboard. Skateboards have wheels. The categorization is thus incorrect. Tp 07:32, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

Airboard it's a commercial hovercraft not a special word !!!!!!

[edit] Appearances

I think, on the one hand, it might be interesting to use. but on the other hand, the large size and dated aesthetic lines of the device make it a decidedly "uncool" contraption to use for leisure and amusement. The stigma of being seen on such a clunky and unwieldy device, in my opinion, is enough to warrant not using it. I cannot speak for other countries, and I cannot speak for every individual who is interested in this, but notwithstanding my opinions on the affect of personal image if seen using such a device, it's large size is retrograde to its purpose, as stated that the inventor was inspired by the hoverboard from back to the future. The hoverboard in back to the future is extremely small, compact, light, and unintrusive. The Airboard is not.

[edit] Disambiguation

I found this page looking for the popular inflatable sledges called 'Airboards' I think this is a much more common use of the name, as mentioned in the first comment. The term airboard on the German Wikipedia redirects to a page about inflatable sledges. At the very least, there should be a disambiguation page created (but I don't know how ;-)) Duncanbourne (talk) 09:06, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
