This is a logo of an organization, item, or event, and is protected by copyright and/or trademark. It is believed that the use of low-resolution images on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation, of logos for certain uses involving identification and critical commentary may qualify as fair use under United States copyright law. See Wikipedia:Non-free content and Wikipedia:Logos.
This tag must have an accompanying fair use rationale which must be unique to the usage of THIS image in each article in which it is used. You must also give the source and copyright information for all fair-use images uploaded. Description |
This is a logo for Air Rhodesia. It is a historical logo. Its historical usage is as follows: Ceased to be used (as Air Rhodesia) in 1979. |
Source |
Appears to be a modification of [1], by Antonio Martins (20 Nov 1997), with the addition of the words "AIR RHODESIA" under the logo. Uploader's copy of the image was saved from a since-forgotten website in the late 1990s. |
Article | |
Portion used |
The entire logo is used to convey the meaning intended and avoid tarnishing or misrepresenting the intended image. |
Low resolution? |
The logo is a size and resolution sufficient to maintain the quality intended by the company or organization, without being unnecessarily high resolution. |
Purpose of use |
The image is placed in the infobox at the top of the article discussing Air Rhodesia, a subject of public interest. The significance of the logo is to help the reader identify the organization, assure the readers that they have reached the right article containing critical commentary about the organization, and illustrate the organization's intended branding message in a way that words alone could not convey. There is commentary in the article about the logo itself as follows: AIR RHODESIA should be in medium blue, not red. Tnuag 20:50, 21 September 2007 (UTC). |
Replaceable? |
Cannot be replaced (unless someone takes the time to create a new logo from scratch, something the uploader does not have the expertise to do) as the entity no longer exists. |
Other information | Flags of the World copyright notice: "Flags of the World is produced and maintained by an Editorial Staff of unpaid volunteers and the contents of these pages are offered freely to the Internet community." I thought there was a template for FOTW images, but I can't seem to find it now. (The full copyright notice would seem to allow inclusion on Wikipedia.) |
