Note: None of the airports listed here lie within the boundaries of Washington, D.C., they are located in surrounding states. Washington and its suburbs are their primary source of traffic, however.

A prominent military airfield formerly existed at Bolling Air Force Base. The last fixed wing aircraft flight from Bolling departed July 1, 1962, and its airfield facilities have been replaced by offices and fields.
