The station consists of two platforms, in an island format, with a small shelter for waiting passengers. A large Metcard machine is located at the entrance to the platforms.
The Western standard gauge line is to the west of the station, and is used by interstate freight trains, and The Overland passenger service from Melbourne to Adelaide.
Aircraft station originally opened as a siding on Saturday, 7th March 1925 as Aviation Siding. It was later renamed to Aircraft Siding with a platform added in 1927 before renamed again to Aircraft in 1963.
