Aircraft on ground

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aircraft on Ground (AOG) is a term in aviation maintenance indicating that a problem is serious enough to prevent an aircraft from flying. Especially if an aircraft is commercial or stranded away from its home base, parts suppliers will generally offer AOG shipping to get replacement parts as quickly as possible. This is called an AOG-procedure. When an AOG-procedure is requested the part will be delivered within 24 hours, but at the double price.

By extension, pilots will use the term to indicate that they are stranded or unable to fly, as in "I'm AOG until the new radio arrives".

The McGinty Machine Company of Wichita Kansas is an AOG part supplier for The Boeing Airplane Company. An AOG plan requires 24/7 manufacturing and processing.
